A mayor of a small CA town has shut down a stand where an 11 and 3 year old sold their families surplus farm vegetables on weekends. The mayor says "They may start out with a little card-table and selling a couple of things, but then who is to say what else they have. Is all the produce made there, do they make it themselves? Are they going to have eggs and chickens for sale next." |

Comments:
Well, the mayor's comments are clearly moronic.... however if his argument were that we need to protect the unassuming public from recent outbreaks of salmonella or other food-related conditions, or if he said that unfortunately she needs to get a license to sell goods, then I'd say he has a point.
Haha, this story cracks me up. If that mayor needs someone to strong arm the 3 year old for some kickbacks, I'll be happy to do it :), f'ing idiot. I can't believe that this mayor would even talk to the press after doing this. I am embarassed for him. Imagine being 3 and being approached by the police because "you violated a zoning law". I guess in techinicallity they are violating child labor laws but who do you arrest the 11 year old? The whole thing is comical and will teach kids the problems with working for your money.
