Click the link, watch the ad, and vote. The ad says that baby slings cause pain to moms and Motrin can help. "McNeil had yanked the campaign and its vice president of marketing was busy issuing apologies.... Some bloggers found it intolerably condescending and snarky and by Saturday night, Twitter, a microblogging service, was flooded with anti-Motrin 'tweets.'"

I thought for sure I'd be offended but I'm not. I mean, babies are a certain type of burden, right? and they are bad for your back, no? (oh no they're such a joy and nothing feels like a sacrifice and you don't understand love until you have your own and it totally changes the meaning of life oh every minute is just a miracle oh oh oh) the only thing potentially offensive to me is that they think you should take a pill to fix your pain... but then that's the point.
also, the type treatment is friggin awesome.

oh cjr - you do sometimes delight me so. i only wish that instead of the parenthetical miracle statement that you made some sort of declaration about parents who don't spend every moment with their children are horrible.

actually randy's comment is the only one that's valid as his opinion is based on something he has experienced...advertising. the rest of you should stay off the anti-baby blog machine just yet...wait until you know what you are talking about. in the meantime, you lady baby naysayers enjoy 1) your intact pelvic floors that allow you to sneeze and/or laugh whenever you like; 2) sleeping through the night; and 3) getting all the attention.

it was by no means meant to be anti-baby... just anti-people who are so sensitive they can't admit that carrying children is bad for your back... maybe I wrongly assumed that those are the same people who condescend to those who don't have kids as if to say their life has no meaning yet. it was a little odd that the commercial was basically saying children are a pain in the butt, but I suppose it seems tame compared to the hateful working-moms vs stay-at-home-moms crap I'm used to.

formatting text on message boards will probably be the most useful thing to come out of my learning html.

sjchugh, I think that people should legally change their full name to "mom" or "dad" when they have children so they no longer have an identity. they ought to strive to become the canon of self-abnegation.

ok..i'm offended. i'm offended by the ad because of its graphic simplicity, its rolling text and pretty colors. it's more like a visual interlude between pbs episodes of barney than a marketing effort. i'm also offended that sjchugh couldn't figure out what self-abnegation meant. finally, i thought i was offended by cjr's sarcasm but having been enlightened as to her identification, i now understand it as merely a form of self-protection so as not to be forced into actual conversation. she is merely preparing herself for thanksgiving. a celebration, no doubt, wherein she will be offended.

what does html stand for?

(Hyper Text Markup Language)
in my defense, your brother's hilarious running social commentary has corrupted me, but I appreciate the insightful benefit of the doubt. I'll consider that a promise that I'll be offended.

wait. cjr withdrew the anit-baby comment and replaced it with an anti-people comment. does she still get first prize?
